Reimagining Colonialism: Dune Within Postcolonial Science-Fiction

This research paper will examine the science-fiction novel Dune as a postcolonial work. Colonial history and literature that have been central focus of studies influenced structure many novels. One these was Herbert’s (1965), which carries colonial formula into new fictionalized setting. However, very few cross novel, fewer still consider science-fictional element sets it apart genre. Thus, this article attempts to provide perspective on premise for our understanding postcolonialism. In employing early anticolonial thoughts Amilcar Cabral his notion resistance, study trace notions throughout novel. addition, novel’s spice how proves detrimental in perceiving form narrative.
